Lauren Shapiro’s “Crystal Coral Lamps” are featured in a group exhibition by Bridge Initiative, a Miami-based environmental arts organization, which has joined The Kampong of the National Tropical Botanical Garden to present the groundbreaking exhibition Biscayne. This collaborative endeavor showcases the vital role of contemporary art in advocating for the preservation and conservation of Biscayne Bay.

The exhibition features 35 local and international artists whose works cross disciplines to explore Biscayne Bay’s cultural, historical, and ecological significance.

Lauren Shapiro uses 3D scanning of underwater worlds, digital fabrication, and mold-making techniques to create ceramics inspired by her expeditions into nature. Driven by a profound interest in the intricate relationships of natural systems, she draws on science to deepen the biological insights imbued in her work. Through her sculptures, she uncovers hidden realms that help establish a stronger connection with the environment.
