This ceramic sculpture collection takes inspiration from coral reefs, scientific exploration, and traditional pottery forms. By combining clay casting and digital fabrication, Shapiro creates vessel-like sculptures that capture the essence of corals in real time. The artist draws parallels between the mesmerizing patterns of Tiffany's stained glass windows, the innate geometries of minerals, and detailed 3D models of corals sourced from scientific databases and her scuba diving experiences. Her work showcases meticulous craftsmanship and keen observation, evoking the aura of deep-sea archaeological treasures. These sculptures offer poignant reflections on the power of art to immortalize stories, nature's legacies, and the relentless march of time. Through her work, Shapiro invites the viewer to marvel, ponder, and champion the preservation of these rapidly diminishing underwater ecosystems.
