LAMP SHOW

Lauren Shapiro’s “Crystal Coral Lamps” were featured in a group exhibition at Club Gallery.

LAMP SHOW

LAMP SHOW was a pop-up exhibition at Club Gallery co-curated by Philip Lique and Laura Novoa, featuring seven Miami-based artists that explore the technical and visual features of lamps and lighting. Contending with their inherent functionality, the artists create objects that simultaneously straddle the realms of art and design. Participating artists included: Justyna Kisielewicz, Philip Lique, Claudio Marcotulli, Diana Paz, Lee Pivnik, Andrea Spiridonakos and Lauren Shapiro.

These pieces illustrate the topography of endangered ecosystems. Utilizing both traditional techniques like mold making, casting, and hand-building with clay, along with advanced digital fabrication methods, Shapiro crafts awe-inspiring art pieces. By turning 3D models from scientific archives into physical models through 3D printing, she accurately depicts living corals. These models form the base of her artwork, allowing her to portray coral reefs in a compelling yet non-destructive manner.
